Being silly

Ellie loves to be silly. She is really into telling jokes, playing pranks and loves to draw silly pictures.

Here's what she did to the trash can recently:

She was pushing the foot pedal and making him "talk". I love her goofy little ideas!

What goes up........must come down.

Our roof has been in need of repair for a while now. Todd had a person lined up to work on it, but something kept coming up and he never made it here.  Today it rained quite a bit and we almost had water in our closet. Todd didn't feel comfortable going up on the roof. He said it really needed to be a smaller person. We were trying to think of someone that could do it on a Sunday afternoon.....then I suggested that *I* could do it!

So I put on some jeans and several layers of clothing.

Not the most attractive pic of me...but Silas was taking them through the window.

Todd taught me how to use the caulking gun and we headed outside. It was sleeting by this point. We knew we needed to do something quickly because the temperature was dropping and anything we used would not set if it got too cold.

Up the ladder I went......thoughts were racing through my mind.

-What was I thinking?
- I can't do this.
- The ladder is moving!
- I've got to get down.
- No. This needs done. I can do this.
- Ummm, no I can't.

At this point I was at the top of the ladder. Yes, I had all those thoughts before I even got off the ladder.
It didn't help that the ladder was sitting in the back of Todd's truck. He was holding it steady but the truck was bouncing every time he shifted feet. Makes me <shudder> just thinking about it.

I placed my glove-covered (latex free gloves!) hands on the roof....Cold and Slippery....and tried to figure out how in the world I was going to get to the area that needed repaired. Our roof is actually not very steep. Most roofers wouldn't worry a thing about it and would be jogging up and down. I know I'm pathetic.

I managed to get my hands and knees on the roof. Then I froze!  I was scared to death and couldn't do it. I could hardly even back myself down onto the ladder. Todd just laughed and said he appreciated that I was willing to try. The thought had never crossed his mind to ask me to do it.

Thankfully, a wonderful friend is up there as I type, doing a much better job than I ever could have imagined!

What a great time!

We finished the show! It was such fun to have so many family and friends here to share it with. We had about 60-70 people come through the house over that weekend. Phew! I have been working this week trying to figure out how to upload it. I am NOT technically savvy at all. I did finally manage to get this

The 3 minute clip is about 10 minutes into the story. These are the three older pigs discussing why they are or are not still working on their respective houses. This clip includes two of the songs.

I hope you enjoy. :)

I am working on getting the entire show uploaded. If anyone has any suggestions please email me. I am clueless.

ETA: I finally got the whole show uploaded to youtube. I had to do it in five smaller clips.

Here goes...

We just finished our last rehearsal. Needless to say, it was not a dress rehearsal. Good thing we did that last night. We didn't get done eating dinner till 7:30 and by the time everything was cleaned up it was time to put Sadie to bed. So we just ran through it real quick with no costumes. I guess one dress rehearsal will do.

I've always heard that if your last practice is horrible then your show will be great. Ours wasn't horrible, but it sure wasn't great. LOL  So maybe the show will be spectacular!  You just never know what little kids will do at any given moment. <biting nails>

Showtime!

We decided to do a family show in our basement. At first we were unsure of what that would be, but it has come together nicely.  Of course, nothing is simple here, so we ended up doing a lot more than we anticipated.  I ended up doing an adaptation of the story The Three Little Pigs. Since the kids are so young, I decided to use mostly songs we were already familiar with. I think it turned out pretty sweet.

We have all been working hard building the set, memorizing lines, practicing songs....our opening night is this Friday!  Everyone is excited!  I will post pictures and hopefully some video after the show.

Have a blessed day! ~Tammy
